dailyloe.com – Napoli faced Como in a Serie A match on Saturday, resulting in a 0-0 draw. This outcome did not significantly benefit either team as both seek to improve their standings this season.

Como’s performance was crucial as they now trail Juventus by two points for the final Champions League spot. Juventus has the opportunity to extend their lead when they host Verona on Sunday.

For Napoli, the draw means their title defense is effectively over, sitting nine points behind leaders Inter Milan. Inter can secure the Scudetto on Sunday with a draw against mid-table Parma.

Napoli’s coach, Antonio Conte, acknowledged Como’s challenge during the match. He stated, “It was certainly a good performance, as without that you don’t emerge unscathed from a game where both Napoli and Como had a lot at stake.”

He noted that Como likely had more to gain from the match, particularly concerning Champions League qualification.

Third-placed AC Milan could match Napoli’s points total of 70 if they win against Sassuolo on Sunday. The match featured significant chances for both teams, with Como nearly scoring in the first ten minutes.

Anastasios Douvikas of Como rounded Napoli’s goalkeeper, Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, but his shot was blocked by defenders. Napoli’s Scott McTominay responded with a header that went over the goal.

Como’s Martin Baturina also missed a chance, shooting wide before Milinkovic-Savic denied Assane Diao’s effort on a counterattack. The first half ended without goals.

In the second half, Napoli’s penalty appeal was rejected as the referee deemed the contact was initiated by Rasmus Hojlund. Baturina’s deflected shot required a crucial save from Milinkovic-Savic.

McTominay missed a key opportunity in the 80th minute, hitting the side netting after a well-timed through-ball. Matteo Politano almost clinched victory for Napoli, hitting the post with a curling shot.

Meanwhile, Udinese secured a 2-0 victory to move into 10th place in the league standings.
