Mukul Choudhary said he dedicates his achievement to his father. He stated his father always thought of making his son a cricketer. This dream existed even before his father got married. Mukul said his father’s dream was for his son to play cricket.
In his phone book, Mukul has saved his father as ‘Papa’. Dalip Choudhary is happy but guarded about the dedication. He called it a normal thing with no necessary excitement. Dalip moved mountains to make his son play cricket according to Cricbuzz.
Dalip Choudhary stated his son now has to play for the country. He said there is no other option for Mukul. The father listed the tournaments his son has played. These include Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare, Mushtaq Ali and IPL.
The genesis of Dalip’s big dreams traces back to Sachin Tendulkar’s Ferrari. This was from a time before he was married. Tendulkar owned a Ferrari worth over INR 1 crore. The customs duty alone amounted to as much.
To Dalip, the Ferrari symbolised the rewards of playing for the country. From that moment, he was determined to make his children cricketers. He had seen players like Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar on television. Dalip had never seen them in person.
He used to play cricket in his village with very limited facilities. Sometimes they even got a carpenter to make a bat. They played with whatever they had available. Dalip wondered how famous those players were and how many people watched them.
He remembered hearing about Tendulkar’s Ferrari from abroad. It was worth around 1 crore with as much going in taxes. That made him realise how much money and respect there was in cricket. They kept playing despite the lack of facilities.
Dalip made up his mind to train his children to become cricketers. He was blessed with Mukul in 2004 and then a daughter. His daughter is preparing for the Civil Services examination. Dalip trained Mukul in the hard way for 10-12 years.
He worked on Mukul’s physical preparation for over a decade. Dalip used to take him to the ground in the morning and evening. He made him work out and ensured he exercised regularly. Dalip also took care of his son’s diet meticulously.
He believes it is very important to become an athlete before becoming a cricketer. Dalip focused on making Mukul an athlete first. This foundational training lasted for many years. The father’s vision was always centered on national representation.[]
