dailyloe.com – Mookie Betts, the shortstop for the Los Angeles Dodgers, is recovering from an oblique strain. The Dodgers currently hold a 20-10 record in the 2026 MLB season, despite a recent loss to the Miami Marlins.
On Wednesday, the Dodgers received positive news regarding Betts’ injury status. According to David Vassegh of AM 750 LA Sports, Betts mentioned feeling sore after hitting batting practice off coaches.
Betts indicated that he was initially told he would need 4-6 weeks for recovery but believes he is ahead of that timeline. A video shared by Vassegh showed Betts practicing before the game against the Marlins.
The Dodgers are eager to have Betts return to the lineup, but they have sufficient talent to manage in his absence. The team is currently in first place in the NL West, half a game ahead of the San Diego Padres.
Los Angeles is also competing closely with the Atlanta Braves for the best record in MLB. Betts’ return could significantly enhance the Dodgers’ chances of defending their World Series title.
The Dodgers are scheduled to play their next game on Friday against the St. Louis Cardinals, following the series finale against the Marlins.
