dailyloe.com – The Mexican Football Federation announced that its women’s national team will face Haiti in the Concacaf W Championship. This match will be played in Houston, Texas. The tournament offers qualification for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The event will take place from November 27 to December 5.

The championship will feature the eight best national teams from the region. This includes the United States and Canada as the two top-ranked Concacaf teams. Six other teams qualified through the 2025-2026 Concacaf W qualifiers. The FMF confirmed this information in a statement.

Mexico qualified for the Concacaf W Championship by finishing first in Group A. They achieved a perfect record in the qualifiers. Their opponents were Puerto Rico, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Virgin Islands, and Saint Lucia. The team is coached by Spanish manager Pedro López.

Coach Pedro López aims to return Mexico to a World Cup. The team failed to qualify for the 2019 France World Cup. They also missed the 2023 Australia and New Zealand World Cup.

Regarding the Olympics, Mexico has not attended the games since Athens 2004. The team will try to break this negative streak in the current process. The Concacaf W Championship provides a direct path to the 2028 Olympics.

Other quarterfinal matches include the United States versus El Salvador. Canada will play against Panama. Jamaica will face Costa Rica.

The quarterfinals, semifinals, and play-in match will be held at Texas Health Mansfield Stadium. The Shell Energy Stadium will host the third-place match and the final. The FMF provided these venue details.

The four teams that advance to the semifinals will secure a spot in the 2027 Brazil World Cup. The two finalists and the third-place team will qualify for the 2028 Olympics. If the United States, already qualified as host, finishes in the top three, the fourth-place team from the Concacaf W Championship will get the Olympic spot.
