dailyloe.com – The New York Jets have multiple roster holes ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. Their most glaring weakness remains the wide receiver position. This is despite a busy offseason of veteran additions.
The franchise elevated its quarterback room this offseason. It traded Justin Fields to the Kansas City Chiefs. The team brought in veteran Geno Smith as the new starter.
Smith is 35 years old but provides stability. He threw for over 3,000 yards in each of the last four years. He also topped 4,200 yards twice in that span.
Beyond quarterback, the Jets added veterans across the roster. New signings include Minkah Fitzpatrick and Demario Davis. Others are T’Vondre Sweat, Joseph Ossai, Dylan Parham, and Nahshon Wright.
The team addressed safety, cornerback, and kicker needs. It also added pieces for the pass rush. The wide receiver room, however, is still a major hole.
Garrett Wilson is a star and Adonai Mitchell has upside. The 2025 season’s leading wide receiver had just 395 yards. That receiver was Garrett Wilson, who only played seven games.
Once Wilson got hurt, the offense stalled further. Teams need depth to overcome injuries. If Wilson gets hurt again in 2026, the Jets lack proven options.
New York holds the No. 2 overall pick in the draft. It is not likely to select a wide receiver there. The team should arguably take a pass rusher instead.
Linebacker Arvell Reese is a potential target at that spot. The pass rush is not in as bad shape as the receiver room. The Jets’ biggest weakness is clearly at wide receiver.[]
