dailyloe.com – Jauan Jennings, a former wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, visited the Minnesota Vikings last week.
The visit lasted a couple of days and seemed promising for both sides. However, Jennings left Minnesota without signing a deal.
According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Jennings is reportedly seeking ‘WR2’ money in free agency.
This demand could explain why he remains unsigned at this stage in the free agent process. Free agency began about two months ago.
No NFL team has yet offered Jennings a deal that meets his monetary expectations. Currently, few teams have the budget to accommodate ‘WR2’ salaries.
The Minnesota Vikings are not one of those teams. Justin Jefferson is earning ‘top 5 wide receiver in the NFL money’.
Additionally, the Vikings recently exercised the fifth-year option on Jordan Addison’s contract. This move may indicate plans to extend Addison’s contract as Minnesota’s WR2 in the future.
As training camp approaches, Jennings’ salary expectations may need to decrease. Although there remains a possibility for Jennings to join the Vikings this offseason, significant hurdles exist.
