Boos rained down as a replay showed the ball in his hand at the buzzer. The crowd reaction intensified when the jumbotron switched to Gunn. He wore the champion’s gold chain during his post-round interview.
Gunn is a former Indiana University player and a late contest addition. The 2022 Lawrence North graduate laughed about the hometown boos. He stated, ‘I like it that way, though, man.’
The 6-foot-7 guard closed his college career near his high school. He led Lawrence North to a Class 4A state runner-up finish in 2021. Gunn was a record-setting Indiana All-Star during his high school years.
He was DePaul’s leading scorer over his two seasons there. Gunn appeared in 54 games with 44 starts for the Blue Devils. He averaged 13 points on 41.4% shooting for 832 total points.
Gunn described the experience as amazing for his career finale. The event took place at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. It provided a memorable conclusion to his collegiate basketball journey.[]
