Iranian media outlets Shargh, Etemad, and Ham Mihan reported the official was hospitalized with serious injuries. The attack occurred as US-Israeli strikes continued to pound Iran for a fifth consecutive week. Air strikes were reported across Iran on Thursday, including in Tehran, Isfahan, and Shiraz.
Four people were reported killed in Larestan in southern Iran. The Pasteur Institute of Iran, a medical research center founded in 1920, was also severely damaged. Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpour called the attack on the institute a direct assault on international health security.
In a post on X, Kermanpour condemned the strike on the century-old pillar of global health. Meanwhile, Iran’s armed forces signaled a continued escalation in the regional conflict. Spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaghari vowed more crushing and destructive attacks against adversaries.
Zolfaghari stated US and Israeli assessments of Iran’s military capabilities were incomplete. He said Tehran would press on with the Middle East war until the US and Israel face permanent regret.
