dailyloe.com – Actress Elizabeth Banks has publicly questioned white women voters who did not support Kamala Harris. She made these comments during an appearance on Bustle’s One Nightstand podcast. Banks specifically addressed her demographic in the discussion. She discussed her ‘Hunger Games’ character, Effie Trinket, during the conversation.

Banks directly asked about the voting choices of white women. ‘I don’t understand the 53 percent of white ladies that didn’t vote for Kamala,’ Banks said. ‘What were you thinking?’ she added. She connected this sentiment to the evolution of her film character.

She described Effie Trinket’s character arc in the film series. Banks referenced the film ‘Catching Fire’ where Effie wants to join the team. She noted you see the character struggling before becoming a revolutionary. ‘Effie is the model, guys. She’s the model,’ Banks stated on the podcast.

Banks portrayed Effie Trinket in the original four ‘Hunger Games’ films. These movies were released between 2012 and 2015. The films are ‘The Hunger Games’, ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’, and two ‘Mockingjay’ installments. The role will be played by Elle Fanning in an upcoming prequel.

Elizabeth Banks has been a vocal critic of Donald Trump for years. She compared him to Effie Trinket at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. She referenced Trump’s dramatic entrance at that year’s Republican convention. ‘So when I tuned into Cleveland last week, I was like, ‘Uh, hey, that’s my act!” she said then.

She has consistently spoken out against Trump since that time. Banks uses her social media platform to champion causes and encourage voting. She endorsed Kamala Harris during the 2024 election cycle. The actress is currently promoting her new series ‘The Miniature Wife’.

Banks elaborated on Effie Trinket’s significance as a model for change. She explained Effie initially props up a fascist regime she benefits from. The character realizes the unfairness when Katniss and Peeta are pulled into the games again. ‘I wish more of us were becoming revolutionaries,’ Banks concluded.[]
