dailyloe.com – Six to eight beverage delivery trucks were deliberately set on fire in Corsica’s Tragone industrial zone early Thursday morning. The arson attack occurred in Biguglia at 4:36 a.m. local time. Firefighters contained the blaze to the vehicles, preventing its spread.
Nine firefighters from the CODIS 2B command center were deployed to extinguish the fire. Their efforts were complicated by storm Benjamin crossing the island. Fire crews were also mobilized for two other wildfires in central Corsia, with one still active in Volpajola.
The situation with major wildfires at Quenza and Linguizzetta is now stabilizing. The Bavella massif fire burned approximately 170 hectares of land. Over 120 hectares were destroyed by the Linguizzetta blaze, with significant resources still deployed.
Meanwhile, the Haute-Corse region was placed under an orange alert for rain and flooding. The Bevinco river overflowed its banks in Biguglia, leading to road closures. This severe weather further strained emergency services responding to the multiple incidents.[]
