dailyloe.com – The Milwaukee Brewers host the Washington Nationals for three games starting Friday evening. The Brewers will wear their new City Connect uniforms in all three games. The uniforms were unveiled on Thursday.
The Brewers are coming off a 3-3 road trip. They won a series over the Royals but lost a series to the Red Sox. Milwaukee is 8-4 and tied atop the NL Central with the Reds.
The Nationals are at the bottom of the NL East with a 4-8 record. Washington started the season 3-1 with a series win over the Cubs. They have since lost seven of their last eight games.
Series losses came against the Phillies, Dodgers, and Cardinals. The Brewers are without several key players due to injury. Andrew Vaughn and Jackson Chourio are out for weeks with hand injuries.
Pitchers Jared Koenig, Quinn Priester, Rob Zastryzny, and Craig Yoho are also on the IL. Brice Turang sat out the last two games with left ankle tendinitis. He is not expected to need an IL stint and should return for this series.
Washington’s injured list consists exclusively of pitchers. Josiah Gray, DJ Herz, Trevor Williams, Jarlin Susana, and Travis Sykora are all out. The first three are on the 60-day injured list.
Jarlin Susana and Travis Sykora are two of the Nationals’ top four prospects. All injured pitchers except Sykora are expected to return in 2026. Travis Sykora is out for the season and will return in 2027.
The Brewers’ offense struggled without Turang in Boston. They are still one of baseball’s better offensive teams. Brice Turang, Christian Yelich, and Garrett Mitchell have led the team.
Turang is hitting .270/.413/.514 with a home run and four steals. Yelich is hitting .372/.413/.535 with 10 RBIs and three steals. Mitchell is hitting .310/.429/.517 with 13 RBIs and three steals.[]
