dailyloe.com – The Atlanta Braves placed catcher Sean Murphy on the injured list due to a fractured left middle finger on Tuesday. Manager Walt Weiss indicated that Murphy could be sidelined for up to eight weeks.

In response to Murphy’s injury, the Braves signed free agent catcher Sandy León. León, 37, had been catching in an independent Mexican League and previously played five games for the Braves last season.

This season, Murphy had already missed the first 35 games while recovering from right hip surgery performed in September. León’s signing adds depth to the Braves’ roster as they navigate Murphy’s absence.
