dailyloe.com – The Atlanta Braves are set to begin a nine-game West Coast road trip on May 1, 2026. This trip is the longest on their schedule and will take them through three cities over the next week. The opening game is against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field in Denver.

Grant Holmes will be the starting pitcher for the Braves, holding a record of 2-1 with a 3.62 ERA. Holmes has recently faced the Philadelphia Phillies, allowing two runs in the third inning and one in the fifth during his last outing. He has been effective in limiting damage, with no more than three runs allowed in any of his first six starts.

Holmes has faced challenges, giving up 20 hits with 21 strikeouts and 12 walks in 27 1/3 innings pitched. Despite these struggles, he has managed to go six innings in three of his last five starts. He will be up against Rockies left-hander Jose Quintana, who has a record of 1-2 and a 4.91 ERA.

Quintana’s performance has been inconsistent this season, especially since returning from a right hamstring strain. His current ERA is the worst he has had since 2021. In his last appearance, he pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing one run and striking out five in a win against the New York Mets.

This matchup marks Holmes’s chance to lead the Braves through the challenges of Coors Field, known for its elevation and high-scoring games. The Braves will look to capitalize on Quintana’s struggles as they embark on this critical road trip.
