dailyloe.com – The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 on Wednesday. The win ended a six-game losing streak for Toronto. It also prevented a three-game series sweep.

Davis Schneider scored the tiebreaking run in the eighth inning. He scored from third on a throwing error by catcher Will Smith. The error occurred during a stolen base attempt by Andrés Giménez.

Tyler Rogers earned the win with five outs of relief. Jeff Hoffman secured the save, his second. Hoffman stranded runners at first and second to end the game.

Ben Casparius took the loss for the Dodgers. The Dodgers lost for the first time in seven games when leading after six innings. Will Smith had two hits and an RBI in the loss.

Toronto rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the seventh inning. Schneider sparked the comeback with a pinch-hit walk. George Springer then hit an RBI double.

Daulton Varsho tied the game with an RBI single. This comeback spoiled a strong start by Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani pitched six innings and allowed one run.

Ohtani extended his on-base streak to 43 games. He drew a four-pitch walk in the first inning. He was also hit by a pitch in the fifth.

Smith challenged a call on Ohtani’s first pitch. The pitch was ruled 1.9 inches below the strike zone. Umpire Dan Bellino made the initial call.

Miguel Rojas returned to shortstop for the Dodgers. He missed Tuesday’s game after his father’s death. Several Dodgers players wore ‘MR’ on their caps as tribute.

The Dodgers expect Tyler Glasnow to start Friday against Texas. Toronto expects Patrick Corbin to make his debut Friday against Minnesota.[]
