dailyloe.com – The 2026 National Invitation Tournament championship game is now set. No. 1 seed Auburn will face No. 1 seed Tulsa this Sunday in Indianapolis. The game will tip off at 8 p.m. ET at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Auburn secured its spot with an 88-66 win over Illinois State on Thursday. Keyshawn Hall led the Tigers with a team-high 24 points in the semifinal. Auburn is one of four power conference teams in this year’s NIT field.
Tulsa earned its place with a 74-69 victory over New Mexico State. Forward David Green finished with 13 points for the Golden Hurricane. Five different Tulsa players scored at least 10 points in the win.
Tulsa will now seek its third all-time NIT championship this weekend. Auburn will be playing for its first NIT title in program history. The Tigers had never previously advanced past the quarterfinals.
Some notable programs declined NIT bids after missing the NCAA Tournament. These included Seton Hall, Virginia Tech, Belmont, and San Diego State. The championship will be broadcast live on ESPN2.[]
