dailyloe.com – Applebee’s is encouraging managers to engage directly with customers as part of its strategy to enhance service. This initiative aims to increase customer satisfaction across the chain.
According to John Peyton, CEO of Applebee’s parent Dine Brands, customers appreciate having managers visible and available. The change is based on feedback indicating that interactions with managers lead to a better overall experience.
Surveys revealed that customers who engaged with a manager during their visit reported higher satisfaction levels. By placing managers in the dining area, Applebee’s allows for immediate problem resolution and real-time employee coaching.
Peyton emphasized that these interactions can significantly improve a customer’s experience, stating, “When our guests are going to take an hour and their hard-earned money to spend that with us, we have to make it a really special moment.”
To support this shift, Applebee’s plans to reduce managerial responsibilities. The company is providing managers with more data accessible via their phones, minimizing their reliance on computers.
Additionally, Applebee’s is implementing changes to streamline kitchen operations. This includes over a dozen initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, such as revamping kitchen display systems and altering prep and cooking processes.
Applebee’s recently began rolling out a new POS system from Toast, which is anticipated to offer various benefits. This system could further assist managers in spending more time with customers.
In light of evolving consumer behavior, the restaurant industry is exploring ways to attract discerning diners. This includes value-driven menu options like Applebee’s 2 for $25 menu, reflecting the chain’s commitment to satisfying price-sensitive consumers.
The emphasis on service is also growing in the sit-down dining sector. Many believe that prioritizing customer experience will enhance loyalty and encourage repeat visits.
