dailyloe.com – Anthropic and Amazon have expanded their collaboration with a new agreement signed on April 20, 2026. The deal secures up to 5 gigawatts of new compute capacity for training and deploying Claude. This deepens an existing partnership that began in 2023. The commitment spans over ten years and involves more than $100 billion.
The agreement expands collaboration in three key areas. It focuses on infrastructure at scale and the Claude Platform on AWS. Significant new Trainium2 capacity is coming online in the first half of this year. Nearly 1GW total of Trainium2 and Trainium3 capacity will be online by the end of 2026.
Anthropic is committing more than $100 billion to AWS technologies over ten years. This secures up to 5GW of new capacity to train and run Claude. The commitment spans Graviton and Trainium2 through Trainium4 chips. It includes an option to purchase future generations of Amazon’s custom silicon.
Significant Trainium2 capacity is coming online in the second quarter of 2026. Scaled Trainium3 capacity is expected to come online later this year. Anthropic will also use incremental capacity for Claude in Amazon Bedrock. The agreement includes expansion of inference in Asia and Europe.
This expansion aims to better serve Claude’s growing international customer base. Anthropic continues to choose AWS as its primary training and cloud provider. AWS handles mission-critical workloads for the company. Over 100,000 customers now run Claude on Amazon Bedrock.
Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon, commented on the partnership. “Our custom AI silicon offers high performance at significantly lower cost for customers,” Jassy said. “Anthropic’s commitment to run its large language models on AWS Trainium for the next decade reflects the progress we’ve made together on custom silicon.” He added they continue delivering needed technology and infrastructure.
The full Claude Platform will be available directly within AWS. Organizations will have direct access with the same account and controls. They will use the same billing with no additional credentials or contracts. More Claude Platform features will be integrated into the AWS environment.
This gives organizations direct access to Claude while meeting governance requirements. It also helps with their existing compliance needs. Claude remains the only frontier AI model available on all three major cloud platforms. These platforms are AWS Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and Microsoft Azure Foundry.
Anthropic and Amazon have worked closely since 2023. Together they launched Project Rainier, one of the world’s largest compute clusters. Anthropic currently uses over one million Trainium2 chips to train and serve Claude. The new agreement significantly expands this existing compute foundation.
