dailyloe.com – Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters semifinals on Friday. He defeated Alexander Bublik 6-3, 6-0 in Monaco. This marks his second consecutive semi-final appearance at the event. The Spaniard secured his 300th tour-level victory.
Alcaraz has rebounded strongly after a March exit in Miami. He has looked comfortable on clay this week in the Principality. He previously beat Argentines Sebastian Baez and Tomas Martin Etcheverry. This was his first-ever match against the eighth-seeded Bublik.
The opening set featured entertaining cat-and-mouse exchanges. Alcaraz handled Bublik’s variety and touch effectively. Football legend Paolo Di Canio watched from the stands. The world number one then dominated the second set on Court Rainier III.
“I started the match pretty well,” Alcaraz said after the win. He noted he had chances for an early double break. The player said he lost some feeling on the ball initially. He regained confidence through aggressive play later in the match.
“I played a great and solid match against a player that you don’t know what they will produce next,” Alcaraz stated. He expressed happiness at reaching another semi-final. The victory extends his winning streak on clay to 16 matches. This run dates back to last year’s successes in Rome and at Roland Garros.
At Roland Garros, Alcaraz saved three championship points against Jannik Sinner. He is now two wins away from defending his Monte-Carlo title. He won the championship last year by beating Lorenzo Musetti. That was his first triumph at the clay-court ATP Masters 1000 event.
Alcaraz will next face either Alex de Minaur or Valentin Vacherot. That semi-final match is scheduled for Saturday. The top seed is pursuing his third trophy of the 2026 season. He completed a Career Grand Slam by winning the Australian Open in January.
