dailyloe.com – Rob Mills, executive vice president of unscripted at Walt Disney TV, gave an update on Taylor Frankie Paul’s lost ‘Bachelorette’ season in an interview with TheWrap published April 22. Mills said ABC is focused on ‘just making sure that Taylor, her family, everyone is being taken care of, just on a personal and human front.’ He told the outlet, ‘We take everything a day at a time. We’re sort of really still processing everything.’
Mills added that the network is ‘planning for the next cycles of The Bachelor franchise, and really just kind of looking at everything.’ The Disney-owned network pulled the plug on March 19 following a shocking video shared by TMZ. The video showed a violent altercation where ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ star is seen yelling, hitting, kicking and throwing furniture at her ex-partner, Dakota Mortensen, while a child is heard crying.
Utah police launched an investigation into a ‘domestic assault’ in 2023 involving Paul and Mortensen, who both leveled allegations. Mills also addressed speculation that one of the 22 men Paul dated in the lost season could star in Season 30 of ‘The Bachelor.’ He said, ‘We’re open to anything. I think you saw with Golden Bachelor, this is a phenomenal format that you can tell all different types of stories.’
Mills emphasized that ‘the most important thing is just telling somebody’s story who has a great journey ahead of them.’ Paul will not face criminal charges relating to the Utah investigation into the alleged assault, the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office confirmed on April 14. The office cited evidentiary reasons for the decision.
‘Based on the information provided to our office for screening, we are unable to proceed with the prosecution of Taylor Frankie Paul at this time,’ according to the declination letter from the district attorney’s office. The letter was sent to the West Jordan Police Department and Draper Police Department, and was obtained by USA TODAY. Before the office’s announcement, Paul faced several charges, including one felony count of aggravated assault and two felony counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child and one misdemeanor count each.
